Have you heard about the new Staycation? Give me a break! Whose brain child is this play on words that really means- no play – just stay home? Economist and media hounds are promoting “stay at home vacations” to counter high costs of gas, flights, lift tickets, etc… Okay, travel costs are at an all time high. But you can’t ski in your backyard! ? Okay you can cross- country in a decent snow year – ho hum! How does that compete with a week at Whistler or a high adrenaline heli ski trip? The concept of “vacation” is to vacate, to venture to new places, to expand the mind while taking the body to new heights, far away from our every day demands and chores. My savvy ski friends, stay away from the staycation. Book that ski trip now!
